Contemplative architecture

architecture, contemplative architecture, Nietzsche, vita religiosa

“There is and probably will be a need to perceive what our great cities lack above all: still, wide, extensive places for reflection; places with tall, spacious, lengthy colonnades for inclement or unduly sunny weather where no traffic noise or street cries can penetrate, and where a finer sensibility would forbid even a priest to pray aloud: buildings and places that express as a whole the sublimity of stepping aside to take thought for oneself. The time is past when the Church possessed the monopoly of reflection; when the vita contemplativa primarily had to be a vita religiosa; and yet that is the idea expressed in everything the Church has built. I do not know how we could ever content ourselves with its buildings, even stripped of their ecclesiastical function; they speak far too emotive and too constrained a language, as the houses of God and as the showplaces of intercourse with another world, for us as godless people to think our thoughts in them. We want to have ourselves translated into stones and plants; we want to have ourselves to stroll in, when we take a turn in those porticoes and gardens.” Nietzsche

———-/

I recently saw Rafael Lozano-hemmer exhibition, untitled “unstable presence ” and I suddenly realized that the robots finally took power.

The Unfinished machines are the messengers of the future. For the punishment that we don’t speak to each other anymore, the rude and foul machines took possession of our desensitization.

img_8727

But thanks to the robots trees became artificial ornementation for our thirst of virtual pornography.

Seasons shall be no more and violence of barren homes everywhere.

Empty Monasteries became their fitness rooms. And until exhaustion we will have to answer the robots idiotic and targeted questions. Digging our path to dematerialization. My glasses shall I need no more.

The AI’s anthropocentric machines make the puppeteer’s useful idiot smile before our unveiled bodies.

The corporeal communication will be confused with digital communication. Who needs carnality when we have Netflix ?

We will have to breathe recycled oxygen. Who needs fresh air when we have nanotechnology ? .

Robots now have our voice, the voice of a human being. Tomorrow, as a precaution, they will speak a language that will be untranslatable to us. Who needs a language when the world have lost its boundaries ?

Economists will be the new prophets for the robot messianic era. Algorithms, numbers and informational relations shall be the only religion.  Who needs insurrection, when we have abstraction ?

J’y plonge aujourd’hui mon regard

Comme dans un lac

Cachant des trésors sous l’eau…

Très loin derrière mon visage

Je vois une jeune femme

Aux joues roses

Souriante portant perruque…

Elle met une longue boucle d’oreille

L’enfilant par un trou minuscule

Dans la chaire délicate…

Très loin derrière mon visage

Étincelle l’or brillant de ses yeux

Et le miroir perpétue la tradition familiale :

Elle était très belle….

Cry

“Call and Answer” by Robert Bly

I say to myself: “Go on, cry. What’s the sense

Of being an adult and having no voice? Cry out!

See who will answer! This is Call and Answer!”

We will have to call especially loud to reach

Our angels, who are hard of hearing; they are hiding

In the jugs of silence filled during our wars.

Have we agreed to so many wars that we can’t

Escape from silence? If we don’t lift our voices, we allow

Others (who are ourselves) to rob the house.

How come we’ve listened to the great criers—Neruda,

Akhmatova, Thoreau, Frederick Douglass—and now

We’re silent as sparrows in the little bushes?

Some masters say our life lasts only seven days.

Where are we in the week? Is it Thursday yet?

Hurry, cry now! Soon Sunday night will come.

E trasandati ci portiamo in giro.

Sourires d’Edelweiss

………………………………………………………………………………………….

Every morning from the top of this tower I wonder if there is a place left for the Rossignolet du bois?

Apparence of linearity, effort of transparency, the future of virgin surfaces, forests of expansions, haven of peace among robots, our brothers, whom we will learn to marry soon. Our plasticity has smiles of edelweiss.

Be earth-like

Lay no shade
on any

In other’s shade
glow

Sich zurückhalten
an der erde

Keinen schatten werfen
auf andere

Im schatten
der anderen
leuchten
