By calling it “nothing” he didn’t mean to dismiss it. Not at all ! He simply wanted to emphasize the improbability of its attainment. Ulysse ne peut pas devenir fou parce que tout en lui s’oppose à la folie. Il ne peut tolérer l’idée d’abdication de l’esprit. Quel est, des compagnons d’Ulysse, celui qui est le plus cher à son cœur ? Politès le sensé. Quelle est l’objurgation suprême d’Ulysse aux rois comme aux manants? Il leur crie : ”insensés !” L’immonde folie d’Ajax est inconcevable chez un Ulysse, ce profond méditerranéen pose à jamais le précepte de tous les méditerranéens :”Je ne veux pas devenir fou, je ne serai pas fou”…..(…)….Un Germain au contraire, un Nietzsche s’abandonne si excessivement à la sagesse méditerranéenne qu’il ne peut s’empêcher de sombrer dans la folie. Tandis que l’homme de la Méditerranée, préfiguré par Ulysse, tient à sa raison, alors même qu’il s’abandonne aux excès passionnels…(…)…l’intégrité de l’esprit ”je serai tout pense l’homme, je serai menteur, voleur et homicide s’il faut, plutôt que de renoncer à la gouverne de mon esprit. Je m’imaginerais plus facilement fusillé pour la défense d’un raisonnement juste que pour le salut de ma patrie.”

“Quel que soit le courage des uns, l’escapisme conscient ou non des autres, j’ai l’impression qu’il n’y a plus rien à espérer d’aucun de ces « hommes de gauche ». Plus que l’homme de la rue, plus que ceux qui n’ont pas de passé politique, ils me paraissent définitivement liquéfiés intellectuellement. Malgré eux, ils ont abdiqué toute pensée révolutionnaire authentique, tout effort d’analyse cohérente des phénomènes historiques. Je doute même qu’ils en aient été jamais capables. Il me semble qu’ils étaient aussi mécaniquement « marxistes » hier, qu’ils se proclament « démocrates » aujourd’hui. Leur incapacité d’entreprendre un essai d’investigation dialectique correspond d’ailleurs à l’incapacité de la bourgeoisie d’approfondir la nature de sa propre crise sociale. Mais, en ce qui concerne nos « hommes de gauche », la prime au marasme intellectuel n’explique pas tout : s’il est vrai que la bourgeoisie rend désormais impossible l’exercice d’une pensée constructive du fait que la pensée tout court, en ce qu’elle implique de destructif, en ce qu’elle questionne les valeurs et les tabous sociaux, représente un danger à proprement parler nihiliste ; si cela est vrai, il me semble néanmoins que nos amants de la liberté et de la démocratie occidentales n’ont rendu si facilement leurs armes « révolutionnaires » que parce qu’ils ne les eurent jamais bien en mains.”

My new book arrived this week. “The universe is made of stories not atoms” poet Muriel Rukeyser famousely remarked but some of the most fascinating and important stories are those that explain atoms and Psyche such in this case. I was so intrigued to discover this collaboration between such great scientits. It’s fascinating and difficult but very important book. As said my favorite scientist Brian Cox:
“This shift of the configuration of the electrons inside the diamond has consequences, because the sum total of all the electrons of the universe must respect Pauli. Therefore, every electron around every atom in the universe must be shifting as I heat the diamond up, to make sure that none of them end up in the same energy level. When I heat this diamond up, all the electrons in the universe instantly but imperceptibly change their energy levels. So everything is connected to everything else.”

” Flux” was the last exhibition of David Altmejd I saw in Mudam Luxembourg. It’s all about dislocation and fragmentation in constructions modules, mirrors and multiplied visual effects. David is attached to the idea of an universal world that is absorbed as it is reflected in this stunning representation of crystallization of time, cultures and images that we face and that engulfs us. It evokes the Library of Babel of Jorge Borges and the minimalism of Robert Irwin or Donald Judd.
Insects; animals, fruits, flowers, trees, crystals..etc are the expression of a naturalized archeology of the world were the vegetable, animal and mineral coexist. David in this fantastic exhibition shows how the energy that is contained in the flesh and in chainlets is carried by birds and flowers in a complex associative relations that maintain our biodiversity.
