Well baby, there is this place called Bergen in Norway, which has the world’s northernmost rain forest. Not because of tropical climate, but because Bergen receives more rain than the average town, situated on the west coast next to the north atlantic. With almost perpetual wind and driving rain, they’d probably come as close to having eternal autumn weather as you’d get. If you set the environmental factors similar for a place in your world, you can probably motivate Eternal Autumn that way.
Forward is not an absolute term, it does not mean bigger, better, higher, or further. It means progress towards your desired destination. And many times in life that desired destination is going to change and once in a while, it’ll become somewhere you’ve already been. Think about that.
Life is not about just climbing the ladder to the top.
There’s an old idea that you can climb one ladder to the top only to see another ladder that goes higher. One must find a way to get onto the right ladder to really start their life.
I’ll spare you the countless examples found in motivational YouTube videos, but having courage to move back in order to move forward is a very noble thing to be doing. Don’t let pride get in your way.
